An unforgettable weekend at “Big Water”

Iguaçu – “Big Water”

Arriving in the north of Argentina and flying over one of the seven wonders of the world, the Iguaçu Falls made me realise that this will be part of the magic discovered on this unexpectedly hard journey. I have never imagined waterfalls many hundreds of metres high, and so many. At one spot the Iguaçu river gets completely swallowed by a phenomenon known as the “Devil’s Throat.

The air is heavy and it is difficult to breathe at first. My red blood cells protest as they fight for oxygen. I know that this will be an experience carved into my memory forever.

Iguaçu

here
in your ancient mists
i am stripped bare
from fading
certainty

a broken back,
overloaded
with guilt and sorrow
where many gods
once carried holy water

now dry and empty
no objects of
poisoned flesh
running over
only with endless dust

yet you overcome
all logic
make me drink again
from overflowing rivers
i discover
how my solid heart
can beat again

I stand before a miracle…

And along the way…

I am escorted out of the park by a few nosy parkers…a fuller man…another experience that money cannot buy…
